A paver patio is one of the few outdoor projects where the finished look and the long-term performance are decided at completely different stages. Here is how a typical Brevard County install actually runs.

Watch: a full patio install, start to finish

The video above condenses a three-day install into a few minutes. The written breakdown below covers what to look for at each stage.

Day one: excavation and base

Excavation depth for a patio runs 6 to 8 inches. We remove organic material entirely — topsoil and roots compress over time and take the surface down with them.

Compacted base preparation
Base material goes down in lifts, each compacted separately before the next.

Day two: bedding and laying

A one-inch bedding layer is screeded flat. Pavers are set into it and compacted in place.

Day three: edging, joints, and cleanup

Edge restraint goes in around the entire perimeter. Polymeric sand is swept into the joints, then activated with a light misting.

Skip the edge restraint and the perimeter migrates outward within a season. It is the least visible part of the job and one of the first things we check on a repair call.

What to expect afterward

Light efflorescence is normal in the first few months and clears on its own. Wait at least 60 days before sealing.
